2nd Painting Assignment

Just got it back this week. We had a choice of backgrounds to paint and I did this one. Kinda rushed, but it turned out ok.

Just a caricature of my dad I did a couple of days ago. Thought I'd throw this up since I have little time to do anything else not school related at the moment...*sigh. Hopefully there will be something new in the coming days.

Winter Fair week

It's been too long since I've posted anything, but finally I've got something new to throw on here. Hopefully I'll start updating more often in the future.
The following sketches are from the Winter Fair that we had to go to this past week. I really should start using something other than col-erase pencils for sketching, but whatever. I guess it's just automatic. These are just a couple of extra pages of cafe sketches I did earlier this week at the Oakville mall. Once again in blue col-erase...

Caricatures!

I finally scanned some caricatures I did last week in class and decided to post them up. Some are good, but others are just plain bad. I was too lazy to seperate the bad from the good, so here they are.

1st Painting Assignment of the semester...

Heh, This is the first painting assignment we had to do this year. Everyone did the same layout, but painted it however they wanted. It was an interesting experiment. I did another one, but that turned out like total crap, so I decided to do another one. That turned out to be a smart decision. I'm not gonna bother posting the first one I did, since that disaster of a painting is just plain embarrassing. Anyway, here's the new and improved version. The scan is not the best, but it's close enough to the original.

Aardvark skeleton and girl sketches

I went to the ROM this past Wednesday with my class and we ended up doing some skeletal sketches. I ended up doing a bunch of quick gestural drawings and this unfinished 11x14 inch drawing of an aardvark's skeleton.
The other sketches are just some random girl sketches I did recently in a cartoony style.

Damian, Where Art Thou?

First and foremost I'd like to apologize for the lame Title of this post and secondly, I'll answer the question. School has been keeping me busy and I've been neglecting this blog as of late. Other things always seemed to pop up here and there preventing me from posting anything over the past 2 weeks. I was planning to post some sketches from this weekend, but my Art History essay has kept me from doing anything else. Unfortunately I have no new art to post up at the moment, but I promise there will be something in a couple of days, so stay tuned people.

Aaaaaaannnnnnd in the spirit of all half decent posts, I'll leave you all with a juicy screenshot and a concept art shot from the upcoming Xbox 360 title Gears of War. It's looking to be one hell of a game come early November. IGN has a fairly new gameplay video if anyone's remotely interested. Here's the link. EB Games has it currently scheduled to ship on the 7th.

Spiderman fun...

I don't know what I'm still doing up; I should be in bed for chrissake. Anyway, I had to finish this up. I actually should have been doing some art history reading, but I figured this was far more interesting and fun. History can wait until this weekend. So yeah, here is the drawing and the Photoshop version.

VENOM!

School's back! It's been a long summer. Too long I think. I'm finally gonna get back up to speed(hopefully) in drawing. Anyways, I did these just recently. I was just messing around with sketches and ended up liking one of 'em, so I turned it into a finished piece. My photoshop skills need a lot of work, so I just threw in a simple colour scheme. Nothing special. Heh, thats it for another few days.

Finally...

Since I haven't posted any of my stuff in a while, I'm throwing these sketches into the mix. I was watching Pulp Fiction and decided to draw Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Willis. Nothing much, but at least it keeps the flow going in here.

What a weekend!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the ComicCon took place this past weekend. I ended up going all 3 days, which is why I didn't post anything for the past few days. Anyway, the highlight of the show was of course Jim Lee. I was lucky enough to meet the man, get a bunch of signatures, and have a picture taken with him. That alone was worth the $40 I paid for the 3-day pass. I managed to snag a couple of sketches from Humberto Ramos and Francisco Herrera. I also picked up a Venom print from Francisco and a TMNT one from Greg Titus. The last 2 sketches are from the sketch-off Jim and Oliver Coipel had on Saturday. They were given away to two lucky raffle winners at the end of the session.

WHAT IF...

OMFG!!! Hilarious! I just couldn't resist posting this up. It was in the back of one of the What If... series of comics. I forgot which issue but it doesn't matter 'cause I'm posting it here for your amusement.

Toronto Comic Book Expo 2006!

For those of you interested in comic books, anime, and art in general, the Comic Book Expo is this weekend starting this Friday, September 1st at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Some of the guest appearances will include:

More Zoo pics!

The title is pretty self-explanatory, i think. Just a continuation from a previous post. I've squeezed all 10 pics in this post instead of posting 2 seperate batches.

Yet another one...

Wow! Another update already. This probably won't be happening too often, but since I've got a lot of stuff from 1st year that's just laying around I'm throwing it on here. This one was a Master Copy assignment we had to complete early in the second semester. Anyway, it was done using gouache like most other paintings we did. I was never a fan of using gouache, but if done right it can produce some nice results.

VW Jetta sketches

I was looking through some of my stuff today and pulled out these 3 quick sketches I did of a friend's car a little while ago. I might finish them up and paint them on Photoshop to experiment a little, but for now here they are in their rough form. Sorry for the poor quality, but my scanner really hates penciled drawings.

Zoo Pics - Part 1

I spent a day at the Toronto Zoo earlier this week with a buddy of mine. We were there to draw, but ended up taking a lot of pictures instead. We took nearly 400 pictures altogether. Here are some resized from 2592x1944. I will post 2 more batches another day.
